"It wasn't long before I knew I wanted to be a carpenter" Cody Hill.

 

Since I was a kid I have always wanted to build. Bird houses, picnic tables, dog houses you name it.

I started where most do, as a laborer for a small construction company. In high school, I attended an Ace It program which gave me credits towards my level 1 carpentry in post secondary.

Once completing my level 1 and 2 at Camosun collage, I landed my second position in the industry with Knappet Projects Inc. A few years later I found myself building spec homes throughout Nanaimo B.C. After learning  foundational Construction and wood frame construction, I wanted to broaden my skill set. I did so with Stint Construction, specializing in exterior finishing. Understanding the in's and out's of exterior finishing is essential to achieving a properly constructed home.  I then joined Dalcon Construction, building commercial condos between Nanaimo and Victoria.

 

4 years later, seeking a change of pace, I flew to Fort St. John. Here, I started as a red seal carpenter building a section of the hydro electric damn, (Site C). spending a total of 3 years here, Half of it learning the new techniques in heavy civil construction. The other half leading a crew of seven as the youngest carpenter foreman at that time. We constructed a large section of the damn (Headworks). Placing 1000m of concrete a week. I've always had leadership qualities but it is here that I learned what it truly means to be a leader. how to inspire those around you to want to do their best! As much as I enjoyed my time up north, and having traveled around BC. There is no place like Vancouver Island. It was time to fly home.

 

I aspired to take the skills I had gathered from all my past employment and build something of my own. A company people would be proud to say they work for! Clientele that would be more then happy to refer our name to there friends and family.

 

The  island will always be my home, and I want to make it yours too.
